Dr. Jim Harris, MD
Board Certified Allergist & Immunologist
Before effective treatments were available for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and the disease was still considered a fatal childhood diagnosis, Dr. Harris dedicated a significant amount of time and energy to care for children with CF. Since then, Dr. Harris has predominantly specialized in the treatment of commonly recognized conditions like allergies, sinus disease, asthma, eczema, and hives. However, after he started noticing a dramatic rise in cases that didn't fit within these typical immunological categories, he shifted his focus to these new presentations which are now known as Mast Cell Activation Disease (MCAD). From MCAD, his focus expanded to include the co-occuring conditions of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (POTS). After realizing that his patients were often unable to get care elsewhere for these conditions, Dr. Harris decided to dedicate his life to helping patients with EDS, MCAS, and POTS.
Dr. Harris completed his medical education at the University of Iowa College of Medicine including a residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Allergy & Immunology. Dr. Jim Harris, M.D., is board certified in Pediatrics as well as Allergy and Immunology, and he has decades of experience in the field of clinical medicine. He founded the Center for Research at the South Bend Clinic, and he has conducted nearly 300 research studies, including research on Xolair, an important MCAS therapeutic. Dr. Harris is serving as an advisor for our clinical team, and he is also providing medical care to patients across multiple states.
