Request AppointmentGillian Aitken is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than three years of experience caring for patients with complex chronic conditions and genetic disorders, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). In her practice she cares for patients with complex genetic conditions, including Urea Cycle Disorders, EDS, POTS, MCAS, and Phenylketonuria, while also managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac and respiratory care in coordination with specialists. She orders and interprets genetic and diagnostic testing to evaluate for rare conditions and guide care.
Gillian also brings extensive disaster-relief and community health experience, having served as a disaster relief nurse with the American Red Cross, RNRN, and Team Rubicon across responses including COVID-19 relief in New York, Los Angeles, and the Navajo Nation, a refugee camp clinic in Lesvos, Greece, and hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. For over a decade she has also worked in genetics advocacy, serving as a regional representative with the Mountain States Genetics Regional Collaborative to reduce barriers to care for young adults with genetic disorders.
Gillian earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (2023) and Master of Science in Nursing (2021) from Duke University, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. She is drawn to The EDS Clinic for its focus on specialized care and its commitment to closing gaps in access for patients with EDS, POTS, and MCAS.
